Who can let Him in?
Any human being may let God in. No matter who you are, or what you have done, you were made in God’s image ( Gen. 1:26) so that you can contain Him. By inviting Him in, you become a vessel containing God ( 2Cor. 4:7).

Why does He want to live in us?
Because He loves us! God the Father loves people to such an extent that He sent His only begotten Son ( John 3:16) and shed His blood for our sins. This was according to His eternal purpose ( Rom 8:28-29), and was a crucial accomplishment in His plan. When Christ resurrected, He became the life-giving Spirit ( 1Cor15:45) to impart life into His believers. When we believe into Him, as the Spirit He enters into us and mingles with our spirit to become one ( 1Cor. 6:17). Our spirit is made alive (Eph. 2:5-6) and regenerated by Him. Eventually, our mortal body will be transfigured and become a spiritual body in resurrection, just like His (Phil. 3:21). In other words, God wants to live in us, and imparts his life into us, so that we can become God in life and nature (2 Pet. 1:4, Eph. 5:1, John. 1:12) but no part in the Godhead. This is His eternal plan or, His economy.

Where can He dwell in us?
Christ makes His home in our hearts (Eph. 3:17). Our heart is made up of all the parts of our soul—mind, emotion, and will—as well as our conscience, the main part of our human spirit. These are the inward parts of our being. Christ comes into our spirit to regenerate (1 Pet. 1:3) us through our faith, and this is how we receive Him. After this we should let Him spread into every part of our heart and eventually into our entire being. The more Christ spreads within us, the more He settles down in us and the more He makes His home in us. When Christ makes His home in our heart, He controls our whole being and supplies and strengthens every part of our being with Himself.

How can you let Him in?
Christ became the life-giving Spirit, and this Spirit dispenses the divine essence of God into His believers. Hence the Bible says: “He who has the Son has the life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have the life” (1John 5:12). Man obtains a physical life through his first birth. When we receive God’s life through Christ, we experience a second birth called regeneration. “God…has regenerated us…through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from among the dead” (1 Pet. 1:3). “Unless a man is born anew, he cannot see the kingdom of God” (John 3:3). We can let Christ in by calling on His wonderful name, ‘Oh, Lord Jesus!’, “For whoever calls upon the name of the Lord shall be saved” (Rom. 10:13). By calling on His name, not only will you be saved, but you will begin to enjoy the Lord’s riches!

When can this happen?
Right now! You do not need to wait. Pray the following prayer, and God will come into you heart! “Lord Jesus! I am a sinner. I need You. Come into my spirit. Take away my sins. Fill me that I may have the life of God. I receive You right now as my Savior and life. I give myself to You. I ask this in Your name, Amen!”
